Steering Aids for Cars

Steering aids are a very popular adaptation to help assist drivers with limited hand movement or arm strength by reducing the force required to steer. There are different variations of steering aids with slightly different grip, but essentially the adaptation spins around, allowing the user to rotate the steering wheel using just one arm rather than having two hands gripping the wheel.

Whilst these can be used independently, it is often essential when hand controls are fitted to a car as it allows the car to be steered with one hand while operating the hand controls with the other.

Steering aids for cars help drivers who have limited arm strength, reduced hand grip, or who need to steer with one hand allowing full control of the wheel without needing both hands. They’re often used alongside hand controls, freeing one hand to operate the gas and brake while the other steers.

Veigel MyCommand

MyCommand by Veigel is a multi-function steering device. It is both a grip for controlling the steering wheel and a button console for operating vehicle functions. With one hand, a driver can steer while managing electronic functions. The buttons are easy to press and are illuminated in the dark. Amputee Ring
