Customer Story: Finding Freedom Again – A Family’s Journey with the Milford Person Lift

10. September 2025 :

When you’re in your 80s, you expect life to slow down a little, but for Randy Goacher, a devoted father, and his wife, caring for their adult daughter meant facing new challenges with strength, love, and determination.

Over the years, transferring their daughter from her scooter into their family vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, became increasingly difficult. “As we were getting older, it was just getting harder,” he recalls.

Searching for a solution, he came across a video on YouTube that introduced him to the Milford Person Lift. Curious and hopeful, he looked into it more closely. “We compared other options, like a transfer seat, but nothing came close to the Milford in terms of both functionality and affordability. It just made sense.”

Installation was completed in a single day by United Access, Pflugerville, and the lift has been working smoothly for over five years. “The support we got from Justin at Mobility Innovations was amazing,” he adds. “Anytime we needed help, he was there.”

But the real impact came in the daily moments that mattered most. “I realized I transfer my daughter at least eight times a day,” he explains. “Without the Milford, I simply wouldn’t be able to do that anymore.”

Paired with a Smart Lifter for her scooter, the family has regained the freedom to travel—without the cost and complexity of renting a specialized conversion van. “It’s allowed us to travel together again.”

The lift doesn’t just make things easier, it brings peace of mind. Even after a recent back injury, he felt reassured knowing his daughter could still be safely and comfortably transferred. “It’s given my wife the ability to manage on her own when I can’t help.”

When asked if he’d recommend the Milford Person Lift to others, he doesn’t hesitate. “Absolutely. I haven’t seen anything else that does as much for the cost.”
