The Challenge
Dan lives with Primary Progressive MS and is a full-time wheelchair user. The couple’s 2021 mid-roof Ford Transit van was converted for wheelchair transport and RV-style living.
Although they managed lateral transfers to seats, recliner, and toilet, Dan developed pressure sores that made transfers painful and unsafe. Everyday outings, doctor visits, and even travel became anxiety-inducing experiences for the family. The physical strain on Dan’s full-time caregiver wife, Teri, was considerable before finding a reliable solution.
Finding a Better Way
While attending the Accessibility Expo in Ft. Lauderdale, the family connected with Timothy Mosur from Mobility Innovations. Tim traveled to meet them at their daughter’s home in Orlando to assess their unique needs. After careful measurement and design planning, Tim developed a custom Milford Lift extension arm for their van to enable safe internal transfers.
He collaborated closely with a trusted installer to mount the lift and solve early challenges with dimensions, ensuring a personalized customer support.

Designed specifically to fit the Transit van’s layout, the custom Milford Person Lift now seamlessly assists Dan with his transfers from wheelchair to toilet to recliner seat to front seat inside the van, dramatically reducing physical strain and safety concerns.
Smart Lift Base for Home & Travel Use
Tim also arranged a Smart Base system so the Milford Person Lift can be used in home expanding its usefulness beyond the van. This portable solution allows transfers from wheelchair to bed, recliner, and toilet with ease.
